Golden in the fur, but above all in the heart. Tristan is a special dog, very thoughtful, attentive and sensitive. And when this golden retriever spotted a small ball of black fur in his backyard, he immediately knew he had to intervene. So he wasted no time trying to get his human attention in every way he could because he was afraid that if she took him in her mouth she might hurt him.
Tristan began whimpering and spinning in circles. Then he “started acting wild”, jumping and moving strangely. Which greatly intrigued Aly, who was speechless when she realized the dog was protecting a tiny cat puppy.
“Tristan has a habit of finding orphaned animals,” the woman says, recalling that he recently first smelled and went to meet an orphaned fawn that had taken refuge in the trees of their Tennessee property. “I don’t know how he does it: he has radar for it.”
Tristan is four years old and part of a pack made up of two other Goldens and many other dogs that his people host and train. Aly had hoped to return the kitten to its mother, but when she didn’t show, she took care of the little one herself, obviously with the help of the dog who had loved him from the first moment.
Today, Tristan is a puppy’s best friend who is still looking for him and is absolutely not afraid of the size difference. “I have other dogs here and they all want to see him, but the cat doesn’t care about them, she just loves Tristan.
And it’s easy to see why: “Tristan steals everyone’s heart. When you take it out in public, you see people melt. It’s like dating a celebrity.” But he could never have enough puppies, so much so that, as Aly documented on Tik Tok (@alywiththedogs), a few days later he found three more, presumably all orphaned brothers too soon.
