“The police took me back to the plane”

Here’s where my next trip will go:

For now there are only trips with the band. In October I will play with my orchestra on a six-day river cruise on the Rhine aboard the Excellence Princess. From the end of October I will travel from city to city for the show “Da Capo Udo Jürgens”. This will be an emotional trip for me. The late Udo sings hits from various tours from the LED wall and we accompany him live. I have always loved traveling with the band. It doesn’t stress me at all to change location every day. Next year I will travel privately again with my wife Christine – to Costa Rica or another country with tropical birds.

This is how I like to fly:

With the Stella Alpina. It takes me to exotic countries where I can indulge in my hobby of observing tropical birds and other animals. All the Edelweiss crews I have met so far have been extremely courteous and helpful.

These holidays are unforgettable:

I have had many incredible vacations and trips. Visiting the mountain gorillas in Rwanda was extremely moving and impressive and is one of the truly special travel moments.

This is the most beautiful beach I have ever been to:

Beaches are not my thing. I prefer to be in the rain forest. However: the beaches in Hawaii that I saw in the 70’s were really great.

I always have this gadget with me:

I never travel without my binoculars.

This is my special travel ritual:

For several years we have been going to the airport a few hours early to be able to check in at our convenience. We love the atmosphere of the airport, so we start our vacation relaxed.

I book via:

Travel Bar Cornel in Kreuzlingen is always the first port of call for us. Your travel professionals have organized so many great vacations for us. Everything always runs smoothly and they have great people on site who are extremely helpful.

This was my biggest travel accident:

In the 1990s, I flew to the Indonesian capital Jakarta with an expired passport. The person at check-in at Zurich Airport recognized me and simply asked if my passport was okay, without looking at it. I patted my jacket pocket confidently and said, nodding, “Travel professional.” When I arrived in Jakarta, I was not allowed to enter the country. The police took me back to the plane. A quick date check at home would have been much easier.
