Thailand is overrun with tourists

Nearly 38 million foreign travelers are expected to visit Thailand this year, the Thai government has said. It has revised its expectations for the tourism industry upwards “Bangkok Post” reported.

In 2023, after a very difficult few years due to the coronavirus pandemic, Thailand recorded about 28 million visitors from abroad. With nearly 38 million arrivals expected this year, the country would be just shy of the 2019 record. At that time, nearly 40 million foreign guests traveled to Thailand.

Government spokesman Chai Wacharonke attributes the tourism industry’s strong growth to four reasons: the easing of entry rules, a significant increase in flights, publicity from social media influencers and various events launched by the Tourism Authority of Thailand – including the Amazing Beach Life Festival, which took place for the first time this year.

AI support for travel planning

To make travel easier, the Tourism Authority of Thailand has launched a new project. The campaign is called “Amazing Thailand 365 Days” and aims to help guests plan their trip, supported by artificial intelligence (AI).

On the one hand, the goal is to introduce tourists to lesser-known provinces such as Mae Hong Son, Ayutthaya and Trang. On the other hand, travelers should be encouraged to travel outside of the peak season.

Anyone interested can find it on this website comprehensive information on attractions, festivals and events across the country. “Digital technology is another tool that can provide convenience and promote tourism in a modern way,” says government spokesperson Chai Wacharonke.
