The British capital is the fifth most expensive European capital for accommodation, according to the magazine, but the “unrivalled range of things to do on a city break” outweighs the higher hotel costs. London has “854 top-notch bars, clubs and pubs to choose from on a typical night out.”
The ranking, based on reviews from the travel portal Tripadvisor, is otherwise dominated by Eastern European cities, with Prague in second place and the Bulgarian capital Sofia, surprisingly, in third.
A hotel stay here costs an average of just 41.90 euros per night. Berlin has to settle for ninth place and even falls behind cities like Belgrade and Tirana in Albania.
