Floors, walls, balconies: everything is made of glass: the Grimentz Zinal ski lifts and the manufacturer Garaventa have presented a new cabin that promises to be very spectacular starting this season. The innovative “Alpine Top” is designed to attract guests of all types.
“The journey offers a feeling of lightness and is in itself an extraordinary experience. With this gondola lift, we are taking an important step towards year-round tourism,” says Pascal Bourquin, director of Remontées Mécaniques Grimentz-Zinal SA. The project is characterized by both innovation and respect for nature.
360 degree view guaranteed
Speaking of nature: During the three and a half kilometre journey, you will notice that the glass floor of the new cable car offers a unique perspective on the Alpine landscape of the Val d’Anniviers, while the glass walls and the two glass balconies also offer an impressive 360-degree view. This makes it much easier to recognise the most exciting details of the Alpine fauna and flora.
Even in the “Alpine Top” there is no lack of capacity. After all, the panoramic cabin can transport up to 2,000 people per day. In ten minutes you travel at a speed of 36 kilometers per hour from Grimentz at 1,600 meters above sea level to the “Espace Weisshorn” at 2,700 meters above sea level.
Terrace under the imperial crown
Upon arrival, the Alpine experience continues at the “Espace Weisshorn”. The mountain restaurant also breaks new ground with its gourmet cuisine. With a wonderful view of the eponymous peak, guests can enjoy dishes by Davide Esercito, who previously worked in the kitchen at Michelin-starred restaurants in Italy, Brussels, London, Ovronnaz and Geneva, among others.
Its menu is based on regional and seasonal products: short transport routes and local producers underline the restaurant’s sustainable and innovative approach. Another highlight of the Espace Weisshorn is the panoramic terrace with a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Kaiserkrone.
