Sometimes fate seems to reserve extraordinary surprises that are able to bring some light back into the darkest moments. That’s what happened to a Dallas woman whose heart broken by the loss of her beloved dog, Luna, found unlikely solace in a completely unexpected encounter.
While browsing the euthanasia lists in her town, as she often does because of her dedication to animal rescue, she came across an image that left her speechless: a dog that bore an uncanny resemblance to the one she had to say goodbye to. At that very moment he knew he had to act. Without thinking, she went to the shelter where he lived and adopted Glinda, an “exact replica” of Luna.

As Whitney shares on TikTok (@whitneysdogs), “Luna was the reason I started rescuing over a dozen years ago. Glinda ended up on the euthanasia list due to lack of space and obvious mammary health issues, probably due to overfeeding. breeding. He is a medium-sized black dog, with a gray muzzle, shy, with brown spots.” And love blossomed between them immediately.
The first meeting was an emotional moment. The dog, a little nervous at first, slowly approached her, but then exploded with happiness when he realized she was about to leave the box she was in. She too was afraid that she wouldn’t like her and left her space, but Glinda jumped on her looking for the meringue before leaving the shed and understood that they would be friends forever.
The dog is not in great shape. “She’s sick and has a few masses that need to be removed, but we’ll take care of that. What’s important is that she’s safe at home now.” With this great gesture of love and compassion, Whitney found a special way to honor Luna, the dog who changed her life.
