FNT and DC Smarter want to work together more strongly. With the GSI Helmholtz Center for Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt, the software provider for digital infrastructure management and the augmented reality (AR) specialist have implemented their comprehensive solution in the Green IT Cube.

The Green IT Cube is one of the most powerful scientific data centers in the world. In the integrated OpenLab, the aim is to research and further develop the effects of the joint solution of FNT and DC Smarter on energy efficiency and sustainability under real-world conditions.

The end-to-end solution provides all the components and connections of a data center infrastructure in the form of a digital duplex. The database is the FNT command platform. Enables intuitive, interactive real-time access and inventory management of the entire data center.

With the help of AR technology, integrated by DC Vision, field technical teams get full transparency about resources and operational processes. AR-enabled devices such as headsets, glasses, smartphones or tablets are used.

The initial results of the research are promising. The solution improves operational efficiency through real-time data access and inventory management. Managers can make proactive and data-driven decisions and identify problems at an early stage, according to operators. This offers the potential to reduce failures and the potential for errors.

Remote services are generally simpler and easier to use. The solution creates transparency for the optimal and sustainable use of energy resources, which should promote lower energy consumption overall.
