Emirates’ first Boeing 777, featuring a modernized cabin as part of the airline’s retrofit program, took off for the first time from Geneva on 7 August 2024. The first Emirates 777 jet was equipped with next-generation premium economy and business class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration during the 37-day complete cabin retrofit. Geneva is the first destination in the world to be served by the new four-class Boeing 777.
Emirates flight EK 83 landed in Geneva at 19:20 local time and took off for Dubai at 21:20 on flight number EK 84. Mohammad Lootah, Emirates Country Manager for Switzerland, said: “The decision to bring our new business class seats to Geneva as a world first was an obvious one. Geneva is a key destination in Emirates’ global network. Here in particular our premium cabins are in high demand, both in the leisure and business segments.”
Four-class cabin
“The Boeing 777 remains the backbone of the Emirates fleet and we are delighted to further enhance our customers’ flying experience with the introduction of our brand new four-class cabin on flights to Geneva. We remain committed to the Swiss market and fly our best products to Switzerland,” added Mohammad Lootah. He had initially left open the question of when Premium Economy would also be available from Zurich.
The conversion of this Emirates Boeing 777 began in early July 2024. The aircraft has been reconfigured to accommodate the new premium economy cabin, which features 24 seats in three rows in a 2-4-2 configuration. The cream leather seats, accented by wood trim throughout the cabin, offer comfort with a 38-inch seat pitch and a 19.5-inch seat width that adjusts to an eight-inch recline, providing more room to stretch out and relax, along with 6 two-way adjustable headrests.
