A happy ending for Sirius the dog, the “gentle giant” who was loved by everyone and not adopted by anyone

For almost six months, the “gentle giant” from the animal shelter waited for someone to adopt him, but no one seemed to want him. Faced with such bad luck, the shelter volunteers were dismayed that no one wanted to take this 2-5 year old wire-haired Lurcher home.

The hero of this story is Sirius, who ended up in the RSPCA West Norfolk shelter. Everyone there knew him as a very friendly dog, with a calm and quiet nature and willing to walk on a leash.

Optimistic that the power of social media would help him connect with his forever home, the shelter shared a video of Sirius on his TikTok account @westnorfolkrspca.

A dog known as a “gentle giant” and difficult to adopt

In the clip, Sirius sits calmly in his kennel. He looks at the camera with hopeful eyes, tugging on users’ heartstrings, but it’s also the look of someone ready to accept that this could be his life forever.

And fate really seemed against the “gentle giant”: despite more than half a million views, this video received only two requests for contact. This further unleashed users on social media and word of mouth had its happy ending.

A few days later, Sirius was finally adopted: “We’re really excited to bring him home – says his new family -. He’s a really adorable, adorable boy. His spot on the sofa is already reserved!!”
